I have a lot of different interests, it’s probably the ADHD, and this page is where they end up. There’s a bit about some of the common themes below.

I’m a huge fan of vintage computing hardware, particularly the journey the industry went on in terms of industrial design and all the wonderful, and often wild, experiments that made it all the way to market.

Lately, I’ve gotten interested in woodworking, or at least in buying tools.

Boris

This was an early chess computer, called Boris. It did exactly one thing: play chess. It wasn’t particularly good, but it wasn’t bad either. It’s actually kind of amazing what was possible with the limited technology on hand at the time.

Old Phone Booth

I love when I find these in the wild. They don’t exist very many places any more, but they were absolutely ubiquitous for many, many years!

Dolly Parton’s Fax Machine

I saw this at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, TN. It’s amazing that they preserved it. But it’s even more amazing to think about Dolly sending faxes back in the day.
